From PA:
The Government is to develop an action plan to boost jobs and investment in the digital and communications industries, it was announced today.

Lord Carter, the first Minister for Communications, Technology and Broadcasting, said the sectors were growing in significance, especially as other industries were being hit by the economic downturn.

The aim is to accelerate the rate of growth, the minister said, adding: “Digital Britain is about capturing the opportunities on offer for UK plc and the public and advancing our standing as a world leader in these industries.”

Around 500,000 workers are employed in the sectors covered by today’s announcement.
