The Wire scoops a Bafta nomination

Posted on March 24, 2009

At bloody last, The Wire looks set to be recognized with a high profile industry award in the UK.

Long championed (almost to the point of propaganda) this side of the pond by The Guardian, the Baltimore-based series gained a cult following in Britain in part due to the show’s high number of British actors.

Now it has been shortlised in the Bafta nominations On 26th April the show will be competing in the international category alongside:

The Daily Show with Jon Stewart
Chuck O’Neil, Rich Blomquist, Scott Jacobson, Jon Stewart
More4/MTV Networks
John Goldwyn, Sara Colleton, Clyde Philips, Robert Lloyd Lewis
ITV1/John Goldwyn Productions
Mad Men
Matthew Weiner, Scott Hornbacher

Fingers crossed
